Patient Community Hub

This is our Patient Community Hub page where we will post information that we think you might find useful or interesting, as well as information on community projects and events that we have going on at E12 Health (E12), Stratford Village Surgery (SVS) and Leytonstone Road Medical Centre (LRMC).

Only patients from E12 will be able to attend projects based at E12, and vice versa for Stratford Village Surgery and Leytonstone Road Medical Centre.

However you may attend any of the community projects regardless of where they are situated (unless specified otherwise).

Newham Health Profile 2015

Did you know that the health of people in Newham is varied compared with the England average. Deprivation is higher than average and about 27.2% (19,700) children live in poverty. Life expectancy for both men and women is lower than the England average.

Click HERE to view the Newham Health Profile for 2015.  The statistics demonstrate why it is vital that we work as a community to support and develop our community's ability to look after our health of all sectors of the population, thereby addressing the health inequalities that have been identified.

Mental Health Issues

Hestia is a charity, working together with adults and children to change their lives at the times when they most need support. They use our 45 years of experience to support 5,000 adults and children across London each year. Across their broad range of services, they help people find a permanent home, manage their finances, take care of their health, and access work, training or education, as well as providing emotional and practical support to help people succeed in their daily lives.

Mind provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. They campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding. They won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.

VoiceAbility work across England with people who are vulnerable or marginalised to raise their voices and have their rights respected

New peer support website for young people
The AYPH Be Healthy project has launched a brand new website about peer support. The site has been created by two Health Advocates from the project. They conducted peer research to find out what support young people are giving to their friends and how they could be helping each other even more. The website has been specifically designed to work well on mobile phones.
Please spread the news!

  • Mondays and Wednesdays, 2pm – 5pm
  • Katherine Road Community Centre, E7 8PN
They provide a focal point for people who have had a stroke and live in East London. Get support from people with similar experiences!

The group brings together people with similar problems who can share their experiences and, through this, learn new ways of coping with all the
challenges of everyday life after a stroke. They offer varied activities (physical activity, yoga, games, garden projects, outings and have visiting speakers, and do much more....), a friendly chat and a cup tea on your visit.

Members are encouraged to participate actively and where possible, to improve their communication skills.
